Osteopathy is concerned with addressing issues related to musculoskeletal structures and their fascial and visceral attachments. Osteopathic treatment is focused on resolving structural and fascial imbalances that may cause pain and discomfort such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, etc. The main principle of osteopathy is to restore balance in the body thus facilitating self healing mechanisms. Osteopathic education requires detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Also pathology, embriology and biomechanics.
Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle and yet an effective way of treating the body. It's the palpation of very precise and subtle oscillations of our tissues. These oscillations are evident in the whole body but are more readily palpated around the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and that's where it takes its name from. Being very gentle in its application, Cranial Osteopathy is applicable to all age groups.

Visceral osteopathy is concerned with treating the fascial attachments of the organs to allow them to move freely with the respiration. All organs are suspended in the body with various fascial attachments. These attachments are also shared with the musculoskeletal structure. Therefore, restrictions in the visceral attachments will have direct impact on the mobility of the musculoskeletal structures. Typically a restricted kidney over a period of time may cause low back pain through a direct link to the muscle psoas which attaches to the vertebrae at lumbar region.
